Why is Jack wearing a Top Hat? Does he wear that when he’s performing?
NO, he just insisted on wearing it in the photo.
He said it was an inner child thing!!
What do I need to know when booking entertainment to make sure Im not ripped off ?
Whether you book a magician or another form of entertainment make sure to –
1. Ask the magician/entertainer for a couple letters of recommendation on headed paper (rather than possibly fictional quotes). This gives you an idea of the clients they are accustomed to working for and whether they will be suitable for your guests.
2. Ask are they a full time professional magician/entertainer? Is this their sole source of income? There are a lot of guys holding down a 9-5 job who perform as hobbyist Magicians in the pub at the weekend. It goes without saying you need to know this!!
3. Check the magician’s website for video footage or phone them and ask them for a copy. Be prepared to hear a lot of “I’m getting it made”. Ask yourself if you were making a living as a professional magician/entertainer would you have some sort of video footage of yourself performing? And if not why not?
4. Ask is the magician/entertainer is there anywhere you can see them perform?
5. Ask the magician/entertainer do they provide any sort of guarantee? What happens if their part of the evening just doesn’t work out? Do you still have to pay?
How much does a performance by Jack Wise cost and how do I book him?
Prices vary depending on the specific requirements of your event and factors such as date, performance time and location have to be taken into consideration before a fair and accurate quote can be given. The easiest thing to do is phone +353 (0)1 6687234 or +353 (0)86 8 321123 or email info@jack.ie
One thing is for sure, the old adage “you get what you pay for “is never truer than in the entertainment business and if another magician has quoted you an enticingly low price then you can almost be sure that they are either a well meaning amateur or a professional lacking the experience / skills or confidence required to entertain a sophisticated adult audience.
As in every profession the fee reflects the quality of the work and Jack Wise’s Show definitely justifies his price.
Why does Jack Wise mix humour with Magic?
Early in his career, Jack realised that while people like to be amazed, they love to laugh! Jack knew that if he could mix the two he’d have a winning combination. Laughter, after all, is the highest accolade of entertainment.
It’s the one true sign that an audience are enjoying themselves. And any audience (whether 300 strong or just six people seated at a table) when made laugh, let go of their previous apprehensions. They know they’re in the hands of an expert and they just want more.
We don’t want any blue comedy or offensive language at our event!
Absolutely, it goes without saying that swearing and off colour material may be the norm in a Comedy Club but it just isn’t acceptable at a private party or corporate function.
It’s also completely unnecessary. The mark of a professional entertainer is one who can handle all types of audiences without resorting to the gutter level to get a cheap laugh.
It all boils down to social IQ .Being aware of your audience and attuned to their sensibilities. Jack Wise is an expert at tailoring his material and performing style to suit his audience.
What do I need to provide Jack on the night of his performance?
For Jack’s Close Up Magic the only thing you need to provide is an audience. From experience Jack recommends performing during the drinks reception as his Magic is the ultimate ice breaker.
For Jack’s Stand up Comedy Magic Act, the most important thing is that your guests can see and hear him. Please bear this in mind when organising the seating arrangements. He will also require a free standing microphone (not podium mounted, please) and depending on the numbers attending, a raised platform. Most hotels provide these as standard.
